2012 AIA Central Oklahoma Design Excellence Awards CALL FOR ENTRIES

The AIA Central Oklahoma Design Excellence Awards showcase the best of built work by members of AIA Central Oklahoma. Entrants must be members of The American Institute of Architects, Central Oklahoma Chapter. Award winners will be announced during the AIA Design Excellence Awards Dinner on November 2, 2012. Entry Categories Architecture Interiors Urban Design Un-built work Historic Preservation / Adaptive Re-use Built Project Eligibility 1. Eligible projects include any project designed by an AIA or Associate AIA member of AIA Central Oklahoma built anywhere in the world. 2. Only Architects or Intern Architects in good standing of The American Institute of Architects Central Oklahoma Chapter may submit entries. 3. An individual or firm may submit a maximum of six entries, across all categories (including the un-built category), for which authorship can be supported. An individual submitting an entry must have designed the project or been a member of the project team who executed the project. 4. An entry executed by a Joint Venture shall be eligible if any member of the Joint Entry is an AIA or Associate AIA member of AIA Central Oklahoma. 5. Previously honored projects in other AIA local, state, or regional, or national awards are eligible but projects previously honored in an AIA Central Oklahoma Awards program are not eligible. 6. Only projects completed after January 1, 2008 are eligible. Un-Built Project Eligibility 1. All entries must represent un-built projects that have been design by an AIA or Associate AIA member of AIA Central Oklahoma. 2. Only Architects or Intern Architects in good standing of The American Institute of Architects Central Oklahoma Chapter may submit entries. 3. All entries must be un-built, but have been commissioned by a client (except for entries completed for design competition). Project commissions and competitions must originate no earlier than January 1, 2008. 4. Projects under construction must be less than 75 % complete as of September 1, 2012 to be eligible. The jury maintains the right to disqualify projects that are more than 75% complete at the time of judging. 5. Previously honored projects in other AIA local, state, regional or national awards are eligible but projects previously honored in an AIA Central Oklahoma Awards program are not eligible. Jury The AIA Central Oklahoma Design Excellence Awards jury will be comprised of three noted architectural professionals representing different states of practice- experienced, mid-career, and emerging. Submission Requirements AIA Central Oklahoma uses a paperless, digital submission entry. All entries must include: 1. A Power Point presentation (ppt) derived from a template provided by AIA Central Oklahoma that includes up to 10 slides depicting the project in a minimum of least 4 photographs, 2 drawings, and one text slide. 2. Identification forms in Word format. 3. Up to 6 high resolution project images, a selection of which may be used during the Awards Ceremony and / or for publication and publicity. 4. In addition to the above requirements, AIA Central Oklahoma is requesting one 20 x 20 display board for exhibition purposes only, due at a later date. Awards Presentation The AIA Central Oklahoma Design Excellence Awards Dinner will be on Friday, November 2, 2012 at RED PRIMESTEAK. Cost to attend the awards dinner is separate from the registration fee for entering the Design Excellence Awards competition. Fees & Deadlines A non-refundable registration fee of $150 is required for each entry into the AIA Central Oklahoma Design Excellence Awards. Your entry form and fee must be received by the Chapter Office no later than July 20, 20102. Detailed Submission Requirements will be sent to entrants no later than August 3, 2012. Final submissions will be due no later than 4:00 p.m. on September 14, 2012. Questions regarding the AIA Central Oklahoma Design Awards Program should be submitted in writing to aiacoc@sbcglobal.net.
